Accounts

This is where you set up the "buckets" your business sorts money into โ€” Cash, Bank, Sales, Rent, and so on. Every transaction ends up filed into one of these accounts.

๐Ÿ“– In plain words

Think of the Chart of Accounts as a set of labelled folders in a filing cabinet. Every dirham that comes in or goes out gets filed into one folder โ€” "Cash", "Bank", "Sales", "Rent" โ€” so later you can open any folder and see exactly what happened. This screen is simply where you create and name those folders.

01What you see on the screen

Open the Accounts tab. You'll find a form called โž• Add Account for creating one account, and below it the Chart of Accounts list showing everything you've made. The list has four columns:

ColumnWhat it shows
CodeThe account's number, e.g. 1000
NameThe account's name, e.g. Cash
TypeA coloured tag: ASSET LIABILITY EQUITY REVENUE EXPENSE
StatusNormally a green active tag

If you're an administrator you'll also see two extra cards at the top โ€” ๐Ÿ“ฅ Opening Balances and ๐Ÿ—๏ธ Chart of Accounts Template โ€” covered near the end.

02Every field, explained

The โž• Add Account form has just four boxes:

05For administrators: quick set-up helpers

๐Ÿ—๏ธ
Chart of Accounts TemplateInstead of typing folders one by one, an admin can click Apply Template to instantly create a ready-made set of accounts for your kind of business โ€” Trading, Contracting, Professional Services, Food & Beverage, or Real Estate. It only adds folders you don't already have; it never changes existing ones.
๐Ÿ“ฅ
Opening BalancesWhen you move to FinSanad from another system, an admin uses this to enter the starting amount already sitting in each account. The debits and credits must add up to the same total, or nothing is saved.

06Rules & things to watch

๐Ÿ”‘
Each code must be uniqueYou can't have two accounts with the same code. If you try, the app refuses it.
โœ๏ธ
No editing or deleting hereOnce an account is created, this screen has no edit or delete button โ€” so choose the code, name and type carefully before you click Create.
โš–๏ธ
Opening balances must balanceIf you import a starting trial balance, total debits must equal total credits or the whole import is rejected.

UAE noteNew accounts default to AED, and the built-in templates are made for UAE businesses. Setting your accounts up correctly here is what makes your VAT and other reports come out right later.
